Jar Test

A jar test is a practical method of determining visible signs of incompatibility of materials mixed with water. It consists of the following:

1. Pour 1 pint of water into a clean 1 quart glass jar.

2. Add components of the mix, in the correct proportions. Add Monty’s as the last ingredient.

3. Place a lid on the container and shake jar for 10 minutes.

4. Let the mix stand for at least 15 minutes. In some high alkaline water areas it may be necessary to let the material set for 6 hours.

5. Check for precipitates, surface scum, sludge, gels, oily droplets or other unusual signs.

6. A compatible mix will be consistent and smooth.
