Monty’s Plant Food Company is pleased to announce the recipients of its 2015 FFA Scholarships. The company has granted each recipient $1,000 to help fund their continuing education. There were a total of five recipients from throughout the United States:
— Dean Adcock, Assumption, IL, Central A&M High School FFA
— Keeley Brust, Burgoon, OH, Lakota High School FFA
– Denae Cato, Advance, MO, Advance FFA
– Lindsey Lewis, Newport, AR, New Port High School FFA
– Kaeden Mollett, Greenville, IL, Greenville High School FFA

Monty’s Plant Food Company is a Louisville, Kentucky-based manufacturer of natural soil enhancement and plant fertility programs designed to maximize crop yields.

“FFA is a wonderful leadership program and we are proud to partner with such an influential organization to offer scholarships to young people in agriculture,” said Dennis Stephens, president, Monty’s Plant Food Company. “We congratulate all of the recipients of this year’s award. We wish them continued success in their educational endeavors.”

Each year, the National FFA Organization awards approximately $2 million in scholarships sponsored by businesses and individuals through the National FFA Foundation. This year, a record-breaking 7,171 students applied, with each being considered for multiple scholarships.

2015 marks the 31st year scholarships have been made available by business and industry sponsors and individuals to reward and encourage excellence and enable students to pursue their educational goals.

To be eligible for the Monty’s Plant Food Company scholarship, students had to meet criteria including:
• Be a resident of Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee or Virginia
• Applicant and/or family must be involved in corn, soybean, tobacco, or vegetable production and live on a family farm
• Plan to pursue post-secondary education and study agronomy, crop science, sustainable agriculture, soil science or soil conservation
• Have a minimum high school GPA of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale
• Have a minimum 1280 SAT or 22 ACT score
• Exhibit strong leadership skills
• Have participated in community service
