Berea College Adopts Monty's Plant Food for Turf Management

Berea College, in Berea, Kentucky is known for its commitment to excellence. Once again they were selected by US News & World Report as the best Comprehensive College for a Bachelor’s Degree in the South for 2005. This is the 10th time Berea College has earned a top ranking in the publication. They have earned their reputation by dedicating themselves to their students, academics, service, and the environment. Berea College’s commitment to excellence is evident from the first time visitors step onto campus. From the manicured lawns and flower beds surrounding the buildings and residence halls to the flowers and plants that adorn the campus owned and student run “Boone Tavern Hotel and Restaurant”, you can see the pride that the College takes in its presentation and treatment of the environment.

The switch from traditional fertilizers and plant foods to Monty's Plant Food came from within. A new employee in the physical plant, Rose Marie Adams, informed her supervisor, Jeffrey Hudson, of her favorite plant product. She was so insistent about the advantage of Monty’s that she actually bought the first bottle and challenged them to try it. Hudson said, “She bought the first bottle for us. We are now in the process of reimbursing her for her $11.00 expense. We were very pleased and surprised by the results.” Adams had been using the product for years on her own plants for 3-4 years. She now has created faithful converts to the liquid plant food and the College has just placed a substantial order with the company.

Monty's Plant Food is a ph-neutral liquid plant food. Unlike most fertilizers it is sprayed directly on the leaves of flowers, plants, trees, and crops. Being applied directly to the plant, Monty’s is able to go to work immediately at much lower application rates. Additionally, it is a very low-salt index product. Most fertilizers contain very high levels of salts which impede the natural organic processes of the soil. The combined effect of all of this is a product which creates a more favorable environment for dramatic plant growth. Additionally, the product will not create problems with leeching, run off, or degradation like the old granular fertilizers.
